I wore Lowa boots for years. As I got older, my foot got wider and these Montrail's were recommended by a reputable hiking store. I took them to Italy where we only hiked for 3 days, in beautiful weather. That fall I took them to Ireland, and hiked two days in the rain. That was 10 months after I purchased them. I didn't wear them again until this spring. I took them to Spain, but broke my ankle the 2nd day of my vacation. So, I have only hiked in these boots for a total of 5 days. The interior of the toe box has collapsed. The lining is hanging from the top. There is also a piece of the hard material that pushes down in the middle of my foot. I had these for 1 1/2 years, so the manufacturer is unwilling to do anything. They are now junk. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Montrail AT Plus GTX Shoes - Women's Black / Air 5" are high quality item.
