SOG Specialty Knives and Tools S241-L NW Ranger, Black Ti-Ni Review

I highly recommended this knife. It is a handsome looking knife, great build quality, full tang, razor sharp. Very comfortable in my hand, the material used for the handle feels like it want slip out of my hand. It has enough weight to it that it doesn't feel cheap or like it will fail you when you really need it. The cross guard is grooved, so no worries about your hand slipping onto the knife in a piercing motion. Jimping is nice and sharp. Jimping are the grooves on top of the blade, which catches your thumb and it sticks there.

I was surprised at the quality of the leather sheath considering the quality of the knife. It is one of the thickest leather sheaths I own. This may be good or bad depending on how you want to use the knife. The way it's designed, your blade will never be able to cut through the stitching. Me personally... I would have preferred a Zytel(tm) sheath with a Teklok(tm) and Chicago Screws(tm). And plan on having a custom one made. I didn't remove a star, because it really is a nice sheath.

No matter if you like the sheath or not, the knife is more than worth the price by itself. I would not have batted an eye if this knife were 50/60 dollars more. It looks much better than the photograph on here. Go on Youtube and you will see how attractive this knife really is.

1/31/2012 Update:

After extensive use of this knife, I still love it, but need to change my review of the leather sheath... It's a piece of crap!

It has lost any ability to retain the knife, and the loop it too big. It slides around on your belt. I have a kydex sheath now and it has solved the problem, but that has doubled the cost for this knife.

I have changed my review to 4 stars from five because of the sheath being so horrible.
