I was looking for an old style hunting axe capable of cutting through thick bone and hide for processing. I saw the dimension offered from the graphics but somehow I thought the item would be slightly larger.

This is one of the cases where the buyer (me) didn't initially realize the thought that had went into making this product. The axe edges are razor sharp and the small head is going to be a great force multiplier when it strikes. While playing with it I then realized the care that had be taken in the design and curvature of the handle. There are three distinct places to grab this axe to use as a tool. It can be used full force at the base or handled just below the head for fine work as skinning excess fat from the hide. The axe is easily gripped due to the design of the handle. Fingers flow easily into the channels.

I however do not know if the axe is full tang or not. My only complaint is that I wish it weight a pound or two more with more mass towards the base. Currently the item resides in my kitchen.

I became quite concerned however when the customs people listed it as a miniature replica. That generally means the item is not meant as a tool but as a show piece.

This case has a piece of acrylic in the center that the ball rests in (at the seam) to make it look like the ball is floating. Only negative comment about it is that it doesn't secure shut (just a cover that sits over the ball) but that is fine for sitting on a shelf. Great product nonetheless.

Park Tool 43.95mm Reamer and Spacer Set Review

The 44mm semi integrated headset standard (aka zero stack, press fit, integrated with cups) is very common, and every bike workshop or serious cycling enthusiast needs this cutter. Of course, it doesn't work by itself, rather it's another cutter that suits the Park Tool head tube reaming and facing set (usually HTR-1B).

Many if not most head tubes need facing (for proper alignment of headset cups) but less frames tend to actually need reaming (for good fit of cups), especially the conventional type. If you don't have the conventional reamer, you probably won't ever miss it, plus that type at a pinch can be tweaked with a file. A bad zero stack frame however is another matter, and sometimes without the correct reamer for 44mm press in cups, little can be done to facilitate quality headset installations. Some head tubes are out of shape or poorly sized when they are made, but the manufacturer may opt to just bash in steel cups and not worry about it. If you encounter one of these frame, and have a quality new headset ready to install, I DO NOT suggest bashing it in or forcing it like crazy. This reamer will make nice work of the repair, and not damage the headset. Some later model tapered head tubes use this size on the top only, and a larger size at the bottom. Yes, that's another reamer again.

This is a relatively expensive cutter, but so too is the tool it fits. Fortunately the tool is expandable as required, and produces good results. For one-off facing or reaming operations, it's usually better to just pay a bike shop for them to use their tools. Remember to use plenty of cutting fluid, as it aids cutting and protects the tools edge ('Tap Magic' is great, Park CF-1 is terrible). Don't force the tool, don't drop it, keep it oiled in storage... and it should last a long time. It's suitable for all frame materials, but primarily alloy frames. Ti frames don't tend to use zero stack, old steel frames neither.

This is a must have tool when you must have it ;-) Recommended

Okuma's Cedros Coastal Inshore Lightweight Graphite Rods-CC-S-761M (Blue, 7-Feet/6-Inch) Review

I would love to give a review of this rod (it appears to be great), but Amazon placed it loosely in a simple light cardboard box for shipping. Upon arrival the box was clearly bent and the rod was in three pieces (despite being a one-piece rod).

It is doubtful that I will order fishing rods in the future from Amazon. They clearly have no idea what the product is and what reasonable packaging would be for such an item. Yes, the return process is great, but I have to wonder how much extra I am paying in order to subsidize other returns due to shoddy packaging.

Edit - the replacement rod sent did arrive in one piece, but the packaging was as poor as in the original shipment. So ... it's a gamble as to whether your rod arrives undamaged or not.

The rod itself is high quality and performs well. It is a tad stouter than I expected but casts quite well.

This optic reflects a fundamental lack of quality control combined with poor materials. Within 3 weeks flecks of "crud" appeared when looking through the scope - either dirt of flakes of the coating used on the interior. In addition, the allen head screws used to attach the moung to the bottom of the scope are made of such poor quality metal that the allen head strips when trying to tighten the screws.

I ended up having to pay the shipping to ship the faulty product back for replacement.

The illuminated reticle is pretty good, but that doesn't overcone the other flaws. If I had it to do over again I would not purchase this item.
