Simmons 5MP Whitetail Cam with Night Vision Review

I hunt 4 1/2 hours from where I live so I wanted a camera with good battery life. I bought this in October 2011 and got a ten dollar mail in rebate back from Simmons. So for around $75 I felt it was worth a chance on it. I tested it in the yard and it seemed to work good. I put it out in the woods for 3 weeks last October but I had it mounted too high so no pictures of deer. I also own a Primos Truth 35 camera. (My Primos was out for the same time period and got about 120 pictures of deer day and night.) I took it back home after gun season since I did not want it out in the cold northern Wisconsin winter. I wanted to put my 2 cents worth since there are no other reviews yet.

Pros
battery life is great. Still running 3/25/2012 with C batteries from October (rayovacs) and over 2000 pictures, that is 5 months and been outside in my yard since January.
small size and green color blend in
can use 4 AA batteries or 4 C batteries
camera is supposed to shut off night pictures when batteries drop below 1.2 volts this should help lengthen battery life even more
programmable 1 or 3 pictures per shot

Cons
pictures are blurry at night if any movement
if no movement at night, pictures are fine and bright
no external power jack, but I don't know how much this is needed if battery life stays good.
Cannot adjust sensitivity like Primos Truth Cam 35 Camera and also is not as sensitive as the Primos

I am putting it back out in the woods in March or April, I will update my review in July when I check it. If I get pictures of deer and battery life stays good, then I will up it to 4 stars.

Compared to the Primos, this seems to have better battery life, but the 35 takes better night pictures since it has 35 LEDs.

Learn from my mistake, when in setup mode, you are taller than a deer so just because it detects you (red light) on a trail does not mean it will detect a deer since it may be detecting your head or upper body.
