Caframo Sirocco 807CA-WBX 360-degree Cabin Fan - 12VDC (White) Review

I've purchased 2 of these wonderfully quiet and beautiful fans. The first one gave out after 1 month of service, so I took it back and received another. I was thrilled with the new fan for about 4 months, then it died too. Since I installed it on my boat and I was now in Panama, I couldn't find a way to return it so I took it apart. There are 2 major problems with the way they build this model; 1. there is a metal spring contact in one of the arms that swivel. The spring is very light weight and gives up the pressure needed to maintain contact and 2. they use a very small wire (probably 16 or 18 guage) that runs from the motor thru the arm and turns 90 degrees twice before running down the arm toward the contact mentioned earlier. The sharp bends in the wire are right where the fan swivels and turns and it doesn't stand a chance of survival.

Caframo's Bora Bora is a heartier build for whatever reason and is also strong and quiet. I havent had to try and fix that one so I dont know why they last for years but the newer sexier Sirocco does not last. Sad.
