Brooks Women's Adrenaline ASR 9 Running Shoe,Tropic/Excalibur/Anthracite,7 B US Review

I'm a HUGE fan of the Brooks Adrenaline ASR 8 and have run in them for 2 years. They were fantastic shoes, I could take them straight from the box and run 30km with no problems at all. Did a marathon with multiple river crossings, slippery rocks, gravel and stones underfoot with no problems. They were not too shabby on the road except it would wear the lugs down quickly so I mostly stayed off-road.

Unfortunately the ASR 9 is not the same shoe. It feels less cushioned and less flexible. The toe box seems much bigger, giving horrible slide and stubbed toes on downhill which I've never experienced before and hope never to experience again.

There's also a change with the heel. After a mere 2.5km my achillies is straining and my calves are cramping, the maximum I could run (hobble) in these shoes was 7.5km.

Having said that, after mucking around for 2 weeks on small runs, inserting heel lifts and gel cushioning insole I did venture out for a 28km run (do or die). It was die, as I paid for it with 2 days of extremely sore soles and toes. They just aren't getting better with wear.

Have converted to Salomon Wings 2. Now back to enjoying the run in a well cushioned, flexible shoe.
