I was very disappointed in these bib shorts. In fact, I've not been happy with a lot of my Castelli buys. First of all, it's Euro sizing, so it's made for tiny Euros. I guess we Americans are not only fatter than the rest of the world, we are also just plain bigger. Because I have a different pair of European shorts, and I fit perfectly into an XL, when I'm a medium in any American brand (PI, Performance, etc). I think this causes a problem with fit, because when you simply go up in size, it may not be bigger in the right areas. I'm not tall enough to be an XL or L, rather I'm just bigger in other areas(legs, waist, torso, arms, etc). But I digress...

I got the Large in these, and they fit ok overall. The leg length was fine, but even though they were snug, there seemed to be a lot of bunching when I was on my bike. It's as if they are not bias-cut properly (made for the bike riding position). It never felt like a second skin, which bike shorts really should feel like. The bib portion was ok, reasonably comfortable without digging into my shoulders. However, the chamois was a joke. Very thin and not comfortable. I used them on a 20 mile ride (just over an hour of riding), and I was pretty uncomfortable the whole time, and it was becoming painful to sit for extended periods on the saddle. I never have those kinds of issues on my other shorts, other than some very cheap Performance ones I wear only when I'm using my bike on the indoor trainer.

Overall, the fit was ok, not great, but the poor chamois is what made me return them. I could have used them as a backup pair for shorter rides, but it wasn't worth it to me. I do not recommend.

If you still want them, for sizing purpose, I ordered size Large, and I'm 5'9" and 165lb (sprinter build). You'll probably be safe going one size up from PI or other American brands.
