I love MBT shoes and have purchased many over the years. It appears that MBT has gone out of business and when searching for an alternative, I came across Ryn shoes. They are more rigid than MBTs in that the rocking motion is just from heel to toes. The sides of the soles are very rigid, i.e. no subtle lateral movement / balancing is possible. It feels like being in some kind of "track" when walking in them ... not necessarily in a "bad" way - I can imagine people for whom the MBTs feel too "wobbly" might like these.

I purchased these trail shoes, hoping that the relative stabilities will actually let me wear them on unpaved, uneven trails with some incline ... (I am not comfortable going on such trails with MBTs.) I haven't tried it yet - there are so many "Warnings" of all sorts in the booklet accompanying the shoes, plus, I'm wondering if the plastic covering the "air tunnel" will sustain much dirt and rocks ...

Otherwise the shoes appear to be very well made and look sturdy. The sizing seems perfect. They come with a 20-page booklet, but the Korean/English translation is a bit awkward and takes some getting used to. The booklet contains a listing and description of about 5 different types of Ryn soles (with slightly different functions), but I cannot figure out which ones are the ones in these particular trail shoes I ordered, since it does not say anywhere (neither on shoe, nor on box).

I am still on the fence as to whether I should keep these. If I do and end up wearing them on hiking trails, I'll write an update. I gave them 4 stars because I personally enjoy the all-around instability of the MBTs more.
