We have had this sleeping bag for over a year now and have used it more than nine times with my (now 2) year old. It's wonderful. Note that you have to buy the sleeping pad separate, and yes, you must have one since there is no insulation in the back - we used a 3/4 length thermarest we had sitting around and it worked perfectly, but Big Agnes does of course sell one, but although this is an extra expense, it is well worth it. The bag actually dries quicker without the back insulation (we have washed it several times without any issues) and have been able to lay it out to dry in the sun on multiple day trips when it got a bit "damp" at night. My daughter doesn't like it zipped up, unless it is really cold (we camp all year long in a tent, in the Northwest, so it gets pretty chillly) and so we just put her inside, with the zipper down and lay a lap blanket over top. We put her in a pack and play in the tent, and it fits just great (a little long, but it still works just fine.) This sleeping bag is warm enough for winter camping (mild winter camping at least) and cool enough with zipper down for summer. We just love it and plan on buying another for our new baby. When it comes to camping with kids, go cheap and they will suffer, as will you. If you camp much at all (even once a year) this bag is worth it. Besides, I think she will fit into it for the next two or three years at least!
