Product Description
Incredibly intense freestanding punching bag utilizes a spring mounted design to help develop accuracy, speed and timing in striking. Highly polished chrome poles and spring are heavy-duty for long, vigorous training sessions. Ball is molded of tough and resilient urethane foam for exceptional feel and give. Easy to assemble. Simply fill base with water or sand for a stable striking workout.Title Boxing Title Classic Freestanding Reflex Bag Review
I have been working out on this bag for about 3 weeks now. It is holding up but there are definite design flaws. I recently saw the Everlast reflex bag (cushion head, not the air bag head) in a sporting goods store and to my surprise they are almost identically. I will go over the overall construction. The base is in need of a redesign. It is way too difficult to fill the base with the sand. The base has some sort of upper shelf that disperses the sand very slowly so it took an hour to fill the entire thing with sand. Then I found that it still wasnt heavy enough to withstand a full punch. Luckily the base has protrusions to allow for extra sand bags to hold it in place. I have approximately 75lbs of sand holding it down in total. The lower pole connecting the base is adequate but will probably break eventually (although I am sure something before that will go first). The upper pole slides into the lower pole and is held by a perpendicular screw. This is by far the worse design flaw of the bag. I have to routinely tighten it every 15 minutes. I got fed up with it and drilled a hole through the inner pole so the screw will hold it in place. This probably voided the warranty but oh well. I would say the best idea would be to use those push buttons to hold the pole in place or some sort of locking pin. The head is made of foam and will most likely ripped one day but overall I would buy this type of head again. I liken it to punching a nerf ball. The Title logo on the bag instantly came off within 10 minutes so they should rethink that. The overall speed of the bag, as in how fast it returns after a punch, is adequate for me. I wasnt looking for a speed bag or an intense workout, just something to warm up with. I would overall give this 3 and half stars. The major design flaws killed it for me and it was way to similar to the Everlast bag which is much cheaper. Although I never used the Everlast bag, judging by the look of it in the sporting good store, I would have bought the Everlast instead.***Update***
After healing from an injury and getting back to working out, I have no desire to use it anymore. The bag is just not fast enough to provide the cardio I want and I saw only a slight improvement in technique. If you use it correctly with the proper training, I can see the use for it (i.e. check out youtube) but for an alternative for just cardio or a heavy bag, I would not recommend it. The construction still held up but I havent been using it so I cannot comment further.
