These $99 balls were not suitable for the type of competitive croquet that we play (with cast iron wickets and 3 lb mallets). The black ball developed a bad crack in the plastic veneer on the first day. On the second day the blue ball exploded into about 20 pieces when it received a firm whack! Fortunately the owner of Oakley Woods was very accommodating and allowed us to upgrade to the $150 set of balls for a $50 upcharge. The new balls have played very well for a week with no problems. Don't waste your time or money!
