Like all of Helle's knives, this sturdy, scary sharp knife, is of top quality. The blade is laminated stainless with a hard core which takes, and holds, a wicked edge - the center core is, actually, not stainless, but high carbon steel, but it's not prone to rust or corrosion. The blade is wide, adding to it's strength. The Merbau (hard exotic wood) handle is well shaped for a sure and comfortable grip. The forefinger notch assures that your finger won't contact the blade. The sheath is all sturdy leather, and if there's anything missing that I'd enjoy seeing in regards to the sheath, it would be well served by a plastic liner. One can be made from a discarded milk jug. There is a snap clasp which holds the knife tightly, and it's at such a position that it's unlikely to be unsnapped while walking through thick brush. It is, especially if you're new to Scandinavian knifes, remarkably light, as are all of Helle's line other than the, also excellent, Lappland Leuku. Outstanding knife. The color of the wood handle varies, some a reddish, orange, brown, or even a light tan, which is what I have.
